TB/HIV – A clinical Manual
The recently released second edition of this WHO manual focuses on the new approach to TB control in populations with high HIV prevalence. The Manual stresses the necessity for collaboration between HIV and TB control and management programs. The new approach involves supplementing the core activities of the individual programs with joint initiatives on public education, drug supply, case detection and management and surveillance. The manual includes sections on the diagnosis of TB and HIV in children and choice of regimen. The management of treatment side effects and the prevention of opportunistic infections are also detailed.
The Manual may be ordered from Marketing & Dissemination, World Health Organisation, 1211 Geneva 27, Switzerland. Email: publications@who.int
